Frequently Asked Questions

What is your approach?
Paul Mason Photography cover each wedding as a one off event, with a view to telling the complete and true story of your wedding day. We blend exciting, creative and contemporary imagery with real life photojournalistic wedding photography.

The strength of our wedding photography is our ability to “Capture the Moment” as it happens. This approach leaves you with a true story of your wedding day without having to spend hours posing in front of the camera.

Do we get to see any proofs of the wedding photos before we get our album?
No. We choose not to provide “proofs” as for us the most professional way of presenting your pictures is with a complete album. All of the pictures that are taken are used in the design of your album, except for blinks, duplicates and missed expressions.
The benefits of this approach are:
No “extra” charges for album pictures. As we charge by attendance, you will receive unlimited photography while we are at your wedding. Obviously, as each wedding is unique, the number of photographs in the finished album will vary.
You don’t have to make any decisions about which pictures to keep or go through any post wedding “hard selling” sessions.
You won’t have to wait for months for your album. Photographers who show “proofs” usually wait until all the guests have ordered their pictures before they complete the main album. Generally your album will be complete and ready for collection / delivery about four/six weeks after your wedding day.

Can we have any formal photographs?
Yes, of course. We prefer to keep a low profile during much of the day, however we appreciate that most clients require a small number of relaxed family photographs. This should take no longer than ten minutes to complete. We also only require about 10 minutes or so to shoot any posed bride and groom pictures. Obviously if there are any special requests or particular shots required, We are very happy to oblige as we feel that it is “Your Wedding” and they are “Your Photographs”.

Who will be your photographer for your wedding ?
Your wedding will be personally photographed by Paul Mason. Paul Mason Photography has built a reputation on the quality of their wedding photography and the personal way that they work with and for their clients. This approach ensures you get the very best in attention and quality before, during and after your wedding day.

Can we have both colour and black and white photos?
Most definitely! We mix colour and black and white images to produce stunning wedding albums. The ratio of colour images to monochrome varies according to what images are taken on the day as certain images work better in colour than black and white and vice versa, but the style Paul Mason Photography work in usually involves an average of half the pictures being shot in black and white.

Can guests order reprints after the wedding?
Yes. Guests can order their pictures from your album. Prices for reprints can be found in our price information section. Full details will be supplied with your album.

What style of albums do you use?
We only use the very best, hand made contemporary wedding albums. These are exclusive Italian leather albums and compliment this style of photography perfectly.

Can you post our album?
Yes. For the majority of albums this costs £20.00 per album up to 10kg in weight. The albums are insured and we can also arrange for your album to be sent abroad if you live overseas; please ask for a quotation.

Our wedding is taking place outside of the West Midlands, Will that be a problem?
No. Paul Mason Photography are happy to shoot weddings anywhere in the world. Their usual prices still apply although travelling expenses are charged at 30p per mile for all weddings taking place more than 50 miles from Birmingham. For weddings taking place more than 80 miles from Birmingham (and to ensure that we are in the best possible condition for your wedding day) overnight hotel / Travel Lodge accommodation will also be required. For weddings taking place in Central London an extra fee of £60 is required to incur any car park charges. For overseas weddings return flights are required along with transfers, two nights accommodation and meals.
